The loft final reveal

I have finally finished our loft!
It took me some time to really know what I wanted to do with the space, but thanks to some great comments and suggestions, the playroom is finished.

I added the word "read" above the bookcase. I got the letters from Hobby Lobby and spray painted them red, then attached them to the wall using Velcro.

I got new chalkboard labels for the baskets off of groupon

Yes we do have a separate basket just for action figures!

I then recovered the lampshade.
The previous shade wasn't bad, but it just blended in to much.

Notice all of the "art" on the table? You can imagine my frustration when I saw that! All I will say on the subject is that it now has a fresh coat of paint...grrr!

Here is the new shade...much better.

and then there is the curtain. You can read all about that here.

I added some frames to walls next to the window.

The art I found online and just had them printed on cardstock.
I love all of the colors!

And lastly is this gumball machine. I'm still on the fence about it, but I think its so cute. We found it at a garage sale a few months ago and its been sitting in Tatum's closet ever since. I'm a bit scared to put anything in right now. Any thoughts?

Now here is the rooms transformation from start to finish:

and now

This room suits our family needs perfectly and I am so happy with the finished result!

My first furniture redo

Remember this post about my garage sale find?

Originally when I saw this table I thought it would make a perfect nightstand for my Master bedroom. After about a day I realized that it was all wrong, but for lack of something better I just left it.

Well a few weeks ago we found some new nightstands at a garage sale for only $5!
They aren't perfect at all but I really didn't want to spend $70 a piece on nightstands, so for now, they will have to do!

The color was similar to the other but they were so dirty that I just decided to refinish them to match my bed.

First I took them outside and sanded them down to get rid of all the imperfections.

Then I started spraying.
I got this nifty little handle that made this step so easy.

Next I sanded the edges down to distress it and then went over it with a wood stain.

Here is the final project:

I think its an improvement.

While I was at it I recovered this little foot stool to match better (plus my Husband spilled shoe polish on it).

Looks like I need to trim the excess underneath :)

Now I am still looking for some pretty lamps to go on my nightstands to complete the look.

Not a bad change for only $5, actually more like $15 after supplies, but still not bad!!

The best invention ever...

is this...

For Mother's Day my Husband got me this steam mop.
After testing my neighbors, I decided that I needed one.
I begged and begged Eric for one and it came just in time for Mother's Day.

I got it all assembled and tried it out and was sadly disappointed.
It leaked water everywhere, left streak marks and after a few minutes would stop steaming.
Not at all the experience I had with my neighbors.
So we tried it for a few weeks hoping it would go away or maybe it was assembled wrong when finally I gave in and sent it back.

Well finally they sent me a new one and I must say that I am so happy with the new one.
It is perfect!!

A few days after my mop arrived my son was playing out in the sand box.
He kept running in and out and tracked all of this sand onto my floors.

Normally my OCD self would be going crazy, but I knew it would be a cinch to clean up with my new mop!
I just let him play all day and didn't even worry about it.

 This thing is awesome!
It swivels so nicely and can get into corners and tough spots so easily.

And the best part is that it cleans and sanitizes at the same time which is great when you have a toddler crawling around.
That was probably what sold me on the thing, the fact that this little man can go all over my floors without the worry of germs or harsh chemicals.

So bottom line is if you have a lot of hardwood floors like I do,
then this is a must have!!

Cute Fathers Day Ideas

Well I know that yesterday was Father's Day, but I couldn't post this before because my Husband reads this blog. So now I guess I will share some ideas for next year!

I don't normally do much for Father's Day besides the routine breakfast in bed and kids drawings, but this year I found some super cute ideas online that I couldn't resist.

For Father's Day I got my Husband a new i pad case that had a blue-tooth keyboard attached.
One of my friends shared this idea and I couldn't pass it up!

Its called an i dad. So creative!
I made the larger one for my Husband and stuck it inside his i pad case and the smaller one I sent to my Dad with a gift card inside.
For the how-to instructions check out Tip Junkie.

Next my neighbors and I made some super cute grill cupcakes.
I love how they turned out!

The grill is made out of white chocolate, the hamburger is a tootsie roll, and the cheese and sausages are starbursts.
Eric saw them and couldn't believe that I made them...he was actually shocked!

Then lastly I found a cute (and free!) Father's Day download from Shindig Parties 2 Go
I just downloaded it and sent the whole file to UPS to print on thick card stock and cut it out.

So if you like any of these ideas be sure to pin them to your Pinterst and save them for next year!!

Master bath plans

Sorry I have dropped the ball on this blog, but I have some pretty exciting and BIG things coming up. Things that I am in shock about really, that have to do with Rod Works and Studio 5!!! Sorry but those things will have to wait:(

For now I want to share my plans for our master bath as we are getting ready to change up this room a bit.

Our bathroom is kind of a hard space for me. Its big and has everything that I want in a bathroom, but it really has a lot of wasted space. One day I would love to redo the whole thing, like expand the shower and add a window...but for now I will settle on a few smaller scale changes. Here is our bathroom before we moved in.

So far I am thinking that I want to frame in the mirrors like this:

I also want to paint the room a similar color to the picture above. I definitely want to add some beadboard around the tub and add a veneer front to hide the hideous jetted tub motor.

Maybe something along these lines:

Also I want to rip out the ugly marble surround on the tub and replace it with some tile.

And lastly I always wanted a chandelier above my tub like these photos:

(Things that inspire)

This one is bit big but you get the idea.
I love the color and sparkle of this bathroom and it serves as my inspiration for my bathroom.

I was able to get started on my bathroom revamp last week when my Dad came in town and brought me a beautiful chandelier.
He installed it for me and I love it.
We didn't have a light source above our tub at all so this was a nice surprise!

A little bit of light makes a big difference in a small space.
Well there is our very small start to our bathroom revamp.
Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we can get this room done...crossing my fingers!
